Well, I have just finished reading the report about the Carp Fishing World Championships which was recently hosted by South Africa at Bamboesspruit, Bloemhof Dam in the North West province.
The report was written for Outdoorpages by Andre Dicks. I must compliment Andre on a very well written report! While reading it, I almost felt as if I was there for the whole event. It also stirred up a deep desire within me to really want to compete at that level! On that note I must congratulate our SA boys on such an emphatic victory take first, second and third place in the individual standings as well as, and pretty obviously, over world champions! Not only breaking, but rather SMASHING a few previous world records! Well done boys!
I am currently sitting in Taiwan, and will more than likely still be here until Feb 2010, so it is very difficult for me to do much fishing. I receive a monthly publication called "The Bank Angler" here and I read every article in it about ten times before the next one arrives. All I can think about in every free moment I have here is fishing, and it is driving me crazy having to wait so long!
My next fishing trip is about a month away when I go back to SA for a 3 week break. I will be joining a good friend, Stefan, along with my younger brother Tyrone for my fist ever "Specimen Carp Fishing" session at Laurentia Lake, Rushmere. It will be a 4 night session starting on Dec 27th. I can't remember the last time I was this excited about doing anything!!! I have ordered 2 new rods from the guys at Super Cast, namely the Terminator M3 2 piece rods with 2 different tips. The rods are custom made to your own specifications with your name being put on the rod as a nice little finishing touch. I will be picking these rods up first thing when I land in SA, even before I go home! To add to this my most amazing fiance has just ordered not 1, but 2 brand new Shimano 6000 XTEA super baitrunners to go with the new rods! This will all be put to the test at Laurentia when we take on those big Carp!
Here is a profile picture of the lake we will be fishing :
We will be fishing from Swims 2 and 3.
